It’s annoying because while Blood Bowl 2 had an in-game store that sold shirt designs for a currency called cyans, they were for entire teams, not individuals. You will need to re-purchase the kneepad for your blitzer if you want more than one teammate to wear it. The point is how it’s implemented: whether you buy or acquire an item, it can only be applied to one player. While it’s nice to know that vanity equipment can be unlocked for free, and apparently this includes “not just player parts, but pitches, stands, coaches, cheerleaders, balls, and the dugout among others,” the complaints aren’t just about monetizing existing customization. In Blood Bowl 3, these instant unlocks will include one new team per season, meaning if you pay for the Blood Pass, you’ll instantly get that season’s team, while other players can get their hands on it by maxing out before season three ends months. It will have a free tier that gives out rewards as you level up, and a paid tier that gives out more rewards as well as some instant unlocks. Each season comes with a blood pass that players familiar with season passes from other games will recognize. It’s via the road map (opens in a new tab), which shows three seasons scheduled for 2023. Previous blog post (opens in a new tab) mentioned that the leveling of trainers will be part of the “upcoming patch” and Season 1 will not start until May 25. The thing is, none of these ways to earn money are currently available in Blood Bowl 3. Firstly, by leveling up your trainer by winning games, and secondly, by earning XP for completing quests in seasonal content, both in single player and multiplayer. They explain that there will be two ways to get warpstone and free cosmetics. “We know we probably won’t be able to convince all of you, but we truly believe that our system is fair, satisfying and optional, and that’s understandable.” “This is something we tried to communicate before launch, but we intend to implement features that allow players to reward them with cosmetics or Corruption both through play and purchase,” said the team. (While warp isn’t on sale yet, resulting in a blank page in the store, customers who paid the extra $20 for the Brutal Edition received 1000 warp as part of the bundle.) While Blood Bowl 3 allows players to customize their team’s colors and emblems, individual player options such as helmets and shoulder pads are only available in the store, where you have to pay for them with the in-game currency called warp. They then moved on to monetization complaints. “The functionality of the game is our top priority and rest assured that we will do our best to fix any bugs or broken elements as soon as possible,” they said. The Blood Bowl team has responded to the complaints with a community update, promising to fix major player issues. Despite fixes for the most glaring issues, such as downed servers, the user currently sits with a mostly negative rating on Steam (opens in a new tab). After multiple delays and an early unlock period that was plagued by game-breaking bugs, Blood Bowl 3 launched on February 24.
